ED PETTERSEN
Since 1993, Ed Pettersen’s retail designs have earned him three U.S. Store of the Year ‘Awards and another nod for Best Specialty Store in Asia. With a penchant for developing truly immersive and interactive retail experiences, he is well known for a psychological perspective on consumer behavior and an ability to impact customer loyalty through design.
Ed’s holistic approach, creative edge and practical nature have resulted in an enviable track record that encompasses blue chip concepts from hardlines to high fashion with a particular expertise in consumer electronics and athletic apparel and footwear.
His retail design philosophy encompasses the entire in-store environment and experience… everything the consumer sees, hears, smells and touches other than the product for sale.
Ed is currently back in Virginia after a grueling but rewarding three- year stint in Asia where he designed new specialty store environments for 15 divisions of retail giant Reliance Industries of India. The disparate retail formats included: footwear, men’s and women’s fashion, health & wellness, consumer electronics, jewelry, books & music, auto retail, furniture, housewares, home furnishings, and modular kitchen showrooms.
In addition to Billboard Mats, Ed has two other existing patents to his credit…both for retail innovations. He still enjoys his passion of developing new retail concepts and fixtures through Pettersen Retail Consulting.

TOMMY CLOHESSY
Tommy Clohessy is an award-winning filmmaker and writer. In consecutive years at the New York International Film Festival, he was awarded BEST SHORT FILM and BEST SCREENPLAY (long- or short- form) for A LITTLE TENDERNESS and the AUDIENCE AWARD for AMERICA’s WAKE-UP CALL, a documentary on Drugs, Guns, and Kids narrated by Academy Award-Winner F. Murray Abraham.
In 1991, A NIGHT OF JAZZ, written and produced by Mr. Clohessy, won BEST MUSICAL PROGRAM OF THE YEAR while AND NOW ANOTHER, produced by Clohessy and narrated by Ted Danson, won both BEST DOCUMENTARY and the HUMANITARIAN AWARD for its contribution to the End World Hunger organization at the WORLD PEACE AWARDS in Efatnatu, Ethiopia. Mr. Clohessy was also awarded over 20 SILVER and GOLD MEDALS for SHORT-FORM VIDEOS, corporate and musical, for several different companies over the past 20 years.
In 2011, TO BE KING, a feature he produced and in which he played one of the leads, won several major festival awards, including Best Feature, Best Director for Steve Rahaman, the Mario Puzo Screenplay award, and Best Supporting Actor for Clohessy. As writer, Thomas has scripted 19 feature-length screenplays, all of which have been produced or are under option. He has done dialogue re-writes and script doctoring on over 35 feature films and television pilots while scripting over a hundred 30- and 60-second television commercials world-wide. Additionally, he authored an animated children’s book, THE MAGIC SNOWMAN, the accompanying audio cassette of which is narrated by Sean Connery.
Clohessy invented the SAF-T-MAT during the Cotto-Foreman fight at Yankee Stadium in June of 2010, when Foreman continually slipped on the wet canvas. Clohessy was himself a New York State Light Heavyweight P.A.L. champion and two-time Golden Gloves Finalist. His professional boxing career was short by an injury in 1984, at which time he attended film school. He has maintained relationships with fighters, promoters, trainers, managers and boxing commissions throughout the years, all of whom have lent their undying support for the SAF-T-MAT and remain in the Team Billboard Mats corner.
